If the backdrop is wavy rather than screen and there are sliding lights on the sides of the background or at least on top you can illuminate and get glare on the background than mark it Well and of course the contrajour. If the scene is deep, then the overhead contra-lights are the best thing. If the scene is in a scrap AC, then sliding contra-jour on the sides and sliding on the background. As a last resort, you can try to put colored lights of all colors of the rainbow on the background. It should at least show up somehow.

You need at least three light sources and a lot of patience. The hardest part is the lighting from behind. Soft light on the left. Is that clear? I'm not talking about a laser light flash or the budget would go through the roof.
