There are over 600 active volcanoes on our planet and over 20 of the world's population live in areas affected by volcanic eruptions. There are 29 active volcanoes in Kamchatka. Dozens of active volcanoes, their striking appearance and memorable eruptions are known to all mankind, among them are Vesuvius and Etna in Italy, Santorin in Greece, Fujiyama in Japan, Kilauea in Hawaii, and Hecla in Iceland. However, among the volcanic regions of the world, Kamchatka has few equals in diversity and beauty.
