Take either one, when you buy it you will be happy either way and you will love your camera. Both are very high end cameras. You'll love them both. Just hold them in your hand, you'll love the one that's right for you, the one with the most intuitive controls and the buttons under your fingertips. And for Nikon and Canon now there is no problem to find the necessary accessories.

I would lean towards the D80 IMHO. But that's my personal choice. And in principle both cameras are worthy of each other. Both from great photographic manufacturers. There is another good alternativeOlympus E400.
