What are you different from other people from other countries visa will be put there on arrival in Egypt for about 20 $. Yes, look there are now often tourists are taken hostage scary to go there.

don't have to wear a short skirt and nobody will be kidnapped if that's what you mean! A visa is a stamp which you buy at the Egyptian airport upon arrival!

Your tour operator is wrong. The airline will not charge you anything right now. On arrival in Egypt every tourist, regardless of where he came from, should pay for the visa at the airport and it costs 15 dollars.
