For example, many American soldiers complained that their M-16s ceased to fire because of the sandy dust that clogged up the M-16. The Kalashnikov, on the contrary, shot just fine in all conditions. So AK is simple, cheap and very easy to care for. Also as said before the endurance of the Kalashnikov is simply legendary.
