should have started with something easier like a 350d or not take one at all. If you don't know much about photography then no one here can help you with advice.

First of all through photographic literature firmly grasp such notions as: aperture A ISO speed shutter speed S focal length and working length of the lens depth of field field of view GRIP - depends on the size of the aperture A of the lens. Learn the difference between normal and telephoto wide angle lenses. Learn the difference between ZOOM lenses and Fix lenses. Learn the difference between a portrait lens and a macro lens. Look on the internet for photographic work by such masters as Rodchenko, Henri Cartier Bresson, etc. Learn what the dynamic range of the image contrast sharpness latitude for film and photo paper. And of course shoot and shoot again. Take a lot of pictures, and work hard. Learn how to work with light. Learn from the best masters of portraiture, landscape and still life. Don't pucker your lip at your first successes. Learn and learn. Only with a serious attitude will success come. It will come if you want it to. Do not be shy to ask about what you do not know. It's never too late to learn anything. So - DO IT! Sincerely Michail.
