The specials have regular light bulbs.

It's actually a matter of power control and attachments to the equipment.

Household light bulbs have an extremely unstable spectrum, which leads to sometimes unresolvable problems in image editing. They can be missing chunks of the spectrum, they can go to a certain color. And if there is more than one bulb, and even if they are from different companies, you get a mess of colors, which can only be solved by converting to b/w. And they also change their luminescence spectrum over time. Concerning power: pulsed light will give you more light, but it will only work for a very short time. Try putting a few 500w lamps in a room and you are guaranteed to fry the model in summer. Generally you can't compare light bulbs and studio equipment. Why not? Because studio equipment is lights with bulbs. I.e. you can compare a floor lamp to an assembled softbox. Or a chandelier with a portrait plate. And besides, there's studio equipment with bases for standard bulbs.

The real bulbs of the studio equipment have a higher color temperature of radiation i.e. the spectrum is closer to white.

Spectrum stability and color temperature
