I was in a society of punks, goths, etc. for four years and I will say that as then not especially drank, and now not especially sorry. It is not fashionable and not cool. Personally, I prefer some beers because of the taste. It's worth drinking if it goes well with something. Hog without beer isn't meat, I'm eating it right now.
