Apparently the name "camera" came from camera obscura dark room, over time the camera became more complicated, the emergence of various mechanisms in the design led to the appearance of the term apparatus. This is of course a subjective opinion, correct me if anything.

That's how one likes it. Some people call a camera a photocamera a camera. To me a camera isn't a camera, it's what you shoot with it. In the wrong hands, both Hassel and Leica is a camera. I want to put in a photo of one of the leading photographers, but I will not, after all, two children.
