goths are very funny. rastamans are funny too. hippies are hilarious. punks are posers and in general it's already pops emo - for fancy boys and girls, though initially I liked the idea melainists have outlived their grunge. rappers are nice to me the most normal - it's alternativeists, but it's too broad a concept

The Real Punk Black Ghetto. Not the pops that mimic them, not the rappers, but people from down there.

The first sign of a seriously developed subculture is its independence from the musical style. I count three of them: punks, hippies, and goths. Let me explain: you can be a punk and not listen to any music at all. You can be a hippie and like classical or jazz. But you can't be a metalhead and not listen to metal, or be a rapper and not listen to rap. And every developed subculture has its own serious writers and philosophers. I have a punk husband myself. He's a serious, grown-up guy, it's not a game to him, it's a way of self-expression. And he fucks the work and the people who are trying to make him like everyone else! That's why I respect him.
