Why is the bottom edge darkened when you shoot with the flash? and got a better answer

Is the flash built-in? The edge of the lens obscures it. Use an external flash?

Maybe the glass is frayed.

What's the details? What kind of camera? What lens? What kind of flash? Built in or external? Can you put an example photo here?

Response from 0[+++++]
Because that's how the flash is aimed.

The flash is higher - the shadow of the camera-lens

Response from 0[+++++]
Because light is not able to penetrate through the material of which the camera or lens is made.

Response from 0[+++++]
this is how the flash is directed

Maybe the lens interferes with the flash if it's big.

your lens is not a kit lens - longer and wider, the fade will be there. you have to buy an external flash. almost all serious lenses obscure the built-in flash

Also - if the shutter speed is shorter than 1/200 you will see a shadow from the shutter. You can't get shutter speeds shorter than 1/250 or faster on many FAs.

To summarize: either it's a curtain shadow sync error, need repair or the lens shadow needs an external flash. Sometimes it helps just to take the lens hood off if it was put on the lens with the flash for some reason.

Response from 0[+++++]
The lens is in the way.

Response from 0[+++++]
Lens shadow and sync speed already answered The third reason may be the sync pickup lag To avoid this, increase the shutter speed a bit.
