Laminate it, but it's not afraid of water anyway, tested - Zanuss. soaking.

If you keep a photo in water for a long time, lamination is unlikely to help. And accidental splashes won't ruin the photo.

It is better not to get it wet. Do you often wet your photos printed with a photo enlarger? I don't think that's relevant at all!

What if you try to coat it with water-resistant varnish? There are some for covering automobiles. How do they varnish disks with water ink printed on them?

first varnish is used for printing with oil paints. If it's not too thick, it gets absorbed into the paper and then it's almost impossible to see what kind of paper is covered with varnish.
