In the choice of habitats it is extremely plastic adapting to any biotope with trees - from northern taiga to small wooded islands of gardens and parks. Nevertheless, the density of dispersal is not the same everywhere; in different regions the birds may prefer some or other types of forest [10]. In North Africa, it settles in olive and poplar groves in cedar pine forests and broad-leaved and mixed forests with cork oak. In Poland the greatest number reaches in alder-aspen and oak-hornbeam groves. It readily settles in parks and forest parks with an abundance of old trees in gardens [8]. In northwest Russia, it is common and numerous in the most diverse types of forests - in dry bogs and swampy spruce forests in dark coniferous mixed and broad-leaved forests. It does not avoid humans and is often found even in large cities; for example, in St. Petersburg birds nest in Mikhailovsky Garden in the park of the Forest Engineering Academy in Sosnovsky Forest Park and in cemeteries [11]. In the Urals and Siberia, it prefers mixed and coniferous forests, especially those dominated by pine, but avoids continuous dark forest and small woodlands [5][7]. In the Far East, it inhabits foothill and mountain broadleaved and cedar-broadleaved forests [4]. In the north of Myanmar, it is found among thickets of alder and rhododendron in Japan; it is common in deciduous coniferous and mixed forests [8]. Outside the breeding season, wandering birds in search of food may also appear in biotopes atypical for them, e.g., in tundra and steppe shrub thickets in reedbeds

Existence of dirt A peacock has a splendid tail A blackbird sings beautifully And eagles can fly to the Sun And a woodpecker from his childhood got used to knock No pain in the head No liver and intestines in order Long time ago his last enemy perished To see a woodpecker knocking He is simple in color and does not sing And so the woodpecker has plenty of cares He's been used to helping the forest since he was a child.
