it's a tradition of the prophet Abraham. If I'm not mistaken he circumcised himself at 80.

Circumcision is a tradition that goes back to the time of the prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, and is inseparable from the very existence of man. The Bible says, "This is my covenant, which you shall keep between me and you, and between your descendants after you: that all your males may be circumcised. Circumcise your foreskin: and this shall be the sign of the covenant between me and you. Eight days from the birth, that every male child in your generations may be with you ... and my covenant shall be upon your body an everlasting covenant. And he that is uncircumcised of men, which shall not circumcise his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people: for he hath broken my covenant" Gen. 17:10-14. Muslims strictly observe circumcision as a sign of the eternal covenant with God, as a command from God that is eternal and cannot be undone by human decision. Normally, doctors do not stress the fact that circumcision is not performed only on Muslims, and there are many people who underwent the operation of circumcision solely for medical reasons and not for religious requirements. To be more precise, there are certain diseases that may develop only in a man who has not been circumcised. These are phimosis and paraphimosis.
