What's your budget? A decent backpack for a first grader costs about 20k. Zippers are bad, kids rip them. My purse has to have a large flap on top with a magnet to allow access to everything. The straps are wide and adjustable, and the back is orthopedic. Or get a bag from a five-and-dime store.
