the quality is not measured by megapixels. megapixels can be 10 but shitty color reproduction, blurred focus and slow zoom will spoil all your joy. what for do you need 10 megapixel multicolored spot? in general you should start with two basic factors - format compact or mirror and the budget itself. after that you can start to choose.

I agree with Bat. But in my opinion it's too early to buy. When you understand that megapixels is crap, but most importantly the optics and the sensor, then buy it.
