maybe you accidentally made the stick read-only, you know, like that mechanical switch on the floppy - you move it down and can't write or delete anything. many flash drives have this feature and if you carry it in your pocket it might accidentally move the switch.

Do you mean you used the flash drive developer's utility to protect it and forgot the password? If so, your best bet is to go to the developer's website. There should be utilities there to open it.
