You generally have an easier case to introduce lawsuits against the airline, just a string of defaults. And hot food repeatedly and hotel, Documented it? Any certificates or anything?

As far as I know in such cases airlines are obliged and to feed passengers if necessary to provide sleeping places if someone needs it urgently - to send another plane or a steam train. Recently there was shown on TV - through the fault of the airline our tourists in Egypt hung out about the same way nobody wanted. I am not saying about politics and pickets, but it is a fact - people were sent home from Moscow at the airline's expense. The more so in another city where the company took them. Meteo or not, you should be responsible. You can complain about the compensation to the management of this airline, if they refuse, you can go to court.

According to the new rules from December no one owes you anything.

Yes. They are even obliged to provide you with a hotel. And they must give you food if the flight is delayed for more than 2 hours. Or a refund for the tickets. I don't remember that.

They are obliged if the flight is delayed for more than 6 hours.

Not only food but also accommodation, although in most cases they inform you only when all passengers have to go somewhere by themselves.
