Why do you have to be such a jerk? I, for example, read on the subway just to pass the time. In a closed - stuffy - swaying subway car I feel physically unwell. So with the book is a book - a light read, I abstract away from all the aforementioned inconveniences. So the time flies by much faster and unnoticed.
