If you get a caustic alkali such as boiling soda, lime, soap, which often happens in soap factories, it must be washed off with diluted vinegar or water with a lot of lemon juice or with citric acid i.e. tartaric acid. -If you don't have anything suitable at hand, wipe it off quickly with absorbent cotton or a dry cloth and then pour plenty of water over it. -Without wiping, you can not douse, as the caustic liquid will be spread by water to other places. But if a person falls into a pit with a lime solution or into a soapy liquor, then you must pull him out as soon as possible, pour plenty of water and put him in a warm bath, let him sit for a long time. -Then treat it like any burns.
