There are various opinions concerning the reasons for the totalitarian regime in Russia. There are three most typical explanations: the regime was imposed on the people by a bunch of Marxist adventurers; the second explanation is that they went with enthusiasm to one room - universal happiness and ended up in another - the totalitarian Gulag; and the third is that this regime relied on the support of the poorest segments of the population.

A totalitarian regime is a violent control and omnipotence of the state over the people. The people are stripped of power and utterly limited in their rights and freedoms. And from this deduce the reasons

I think that, like serfdom in conditions of risky agriculture, a totalitarian regime arises because people hope that by paying a minimum to someone who will think for them they somehow get out of the situation. Then it turns out that the fee was exorbitant.

Very strange question for this resource. But. In my opinion, the reason is a in the mentality of the people; b in the peculiarities of the relationship between state and society, society and individual, individual and state; in the peculiarities of historical development + geographical, climatic and other additions. But if in more detail, see, for example, the book Red Troubles by V.P. Buldakov. Doc.

Fed up with the mess, people want a strong hand. Then the pendulum swings the other way. It's been that way all through human history. Think soberly without listening to any clichés. If you need an essay I can email you. Written by myself from paper books.
